A BP spokesman told The AssociatedIt's just some guy I work with Press an oil containment box known as a "top hat" was being brought to the site and undersea robots

would position it over the gusher byYou're angry. You're hurting. Thursday. The new device is much smaller than one that failed ovr the weekend.
Ramifications from the environmental crisis spilled over into landmark climate change and energy legislation that is coming out Wednesday. The bill

from Sens. John Kerry and Joe Lieberman proposes letting coastal states veto drilling projects off the shores of neighboring states if they can

show the potential for harm.TheThe way to the dream impact is being felt in the realm of regulation, too. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar proposed splitting his

department's Minerals Management Service in two to make safety enforcement independent of the service's other main function — collecting

billions in royalties from the nike, my best choicedrilling industry.Senators sought assurances that BP PLC will pay what could amount to billions of dollars in economic

and environmental damages. McKay repeatedly said his company would pay for cleanup costs and all "legitimate" claims for damages, and not try

to limit itself to an existing federal limit of $75 million on such damages.BP was the exploratory well's owner and overall operator, Transocean the

rig's owner and Halliburton a subcontractor that was encasing the well pipe in cement before plugging it in anticipation of future production.
The explosion is thought to have begun with a surge of methane gas from deep within the well, and while the cause is still under early

investigation, the testimony Tuesday provided some insight into what might have been involved.Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama grew

frustrated grilling the executives The way to the dreamon why engineers replaced a heavy "mud" compound in the well with much lighter sea water — thereby

reducing downward pressure on the oil — when they were temporarily capping the site for future exploitation. He quoted an oil rig worker

saying, "That's when the well came at us, basically.""I'm not familiar with the individual procedure on that well," BP's McKay said.
Steven Newman, Transocean's president and CEO, and Halliburton executive Tim Probert repeatedly told Sessions they did not know how often

sea water instead of the compound was used to seal Gulf wells. "Well, you do this business, do you not?" the senator demanded. "You're under

oath. I'm just asking you a simple question." New Jersey Democrat Frank Lautenberg remarked in the day's other hearing: "The conclusion that I

draw is that nobody assumes the responsibility." McKay said that a key piece of safety equipment, the aptly named blowout preventer, had failed

to work and made it clear it was owned by Transocean. "That was the fail safe in case of an accident," said McKay.
But Transocean's Newman said offshore production projects "begin and end with the operator, in this case BP" and that his company's drilling job

was completed three days before the explosion and there's "no reason to believe" the blowout protector mechanics failed.
And Newman wanted senators to know Halliburton was in the process of pouring cementnto the pipe to plug it but the final well cap had not

yet been put in place. alliburton's Probert said his company followed BP's drilling plan, federal regulations and industry practiceshttp://www.maquettes-papier.net/forumenpapier

Execs grilled on oil spill 'cascade of failures'

WASHINGTON – Congress called 12hot cheap prom dressesBP and its drilling partners to account Tuesday for a "cascade of failures" behind the spreading Gulf oil spill,

zeroing in on a crucial chain sell discount wedding dressesof events at the deep-sea wellhead just before an explosion consumed the rig and set off the catastrophic rupture.
In back-to-back Senate inquiries, lawmakers chastised executives of the three companies at the heart of the massive spill over attempts to shift

the blame to each other. And they discount wedding dresseswere asked to explain why better preparations had not been made to head off the accident.
"Let me be really clear," Lamar McKay, chairman of BP America, told the hearing. "Liability, blame, fault — put it over here." He said: "Our

obligation is to deal with the spill, clean it up and make sure the impacts of that spill are compensated, and we're going to do that."
By "over here," McKay meant the witness table at which BP, Transocean and Halliburton executives sat shoulder to shoulder. And despite his

acknowledgment of responsibility,The choice of a new generation each company defended its own operations and raised questions about its partners in the project gone awry.
Lawmakers compared the calamity to some of history's most notorious mishaps from sea to space in the first congressional inquiry into the April

20 explosion and so-far unstoppable spill. In the crowded hearing room, eight young activists sat in quiet protest, with black T-shirts saying,

"Energy Shouldn't Cost Lives." Several wore black painted spots near their eyes to symbolize tear drops made from oil.
Said Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., chairman of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, "If this is like other catastrophic failures of

technological systems innever having to say you're sorry modern history, whether it was the sinking of the Titanic, Three Mile Island, or the loss of the Challenger, we will likely

discover that there was a cascade of failures and technical and human and regulatory errors."The corporate finger pointing prompted an

admonishment from Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski of il-rich Alaska that "we are all in this together" in trying to shut off the oil and find a safer

way to exploit vital energy."This accident has reminded us of a cold reality, that the production of energy will never be without risk or

environmental consequence," she said.Impossible made possible Still, she said, "there will be no excuse" if operators are found to have violated the law.
Failure to plug the leak was intensifying impatience, from the contaminated Gulf waters to the White House.
"The president is frustrated with everything, the president is frustrated with everybody, in the sense that we still have an oil leak," said

spokesman Robert Gibbs. "That includes us, that includes everybody that's involved with this."http://forum.alamye.com

Pray For Inflation -- It's Our Only Hope

Everyone thinks theexpress our point of view Fed's job is to fight inflation, but right now the Fed is actually doing everything it can to cause inflation.
Why?It part to help the economy get cranking again. Inflation provides an incentive for people to spend cash rather than saving it, because if they save it, the cash will lose value rapidly.Inflation also helps solve another problemYou're angry. You're hurting., though--our debt problem. The more inflation we have, the less our dollars will be worth. Because our debts are based on a specific number of dollars and not The way to the dream a specific value, the less our dollars are worth, the easier it will be for us to pay off our debts.(Imagine owing someone 100 Zimbabwe dollars at a time when the currency is collapsing. If you wait a week, the value of the Zimbabwe dollar will have collapsed, and you'll be able to pay off your 100 Zimbabwe-dollar debt with currency that is only worth half as much as it was the week before). The Fed can't admit that one reason it wants high inflation is to reduce the real burden of our debt, but you can bet that that's one of its objectives. What's more, says Nobel-winning economist Paul Krugman, inflation should be one of the Fed's objectives. Because that's how we've gotten out from under debt burdens in the past. Here's Krugman:
So how did the U.S. government managenike, my best choice to pay off its [World War 2] wartime debt? Actually, it didn’t. At the end of 1946, the federal government owed $271 billion; by the end of 1956 that figure had risen slightly, to $274 billion. The ratio of debt to G.D.P. fell not because debt went down, but because G.D.P. went up, roughly doubling in dollar terms over the course of a decade.
In other words, after World War 2, weThe way to the dream didn't "pay down" our debt. We grew into it.And, importantly, this growth came from a combination of real growth AND inflation:The rise in G.D.P. in dollar terms was almost equally the result of economic growth and inflation, with both real G.D.P. and the overall level of prices rising about 40 percent from 1946 to 1956.So inflation is an important tool in getting us out of this mess. It's painful and unfair--those who have been responsible and saved money will pay the price for those who borrowed money, racked up huge debts, and spent more than they could afford. But it's what the Fed is (quietly) aiming for.http://www.srbijawireless.net/forum

China needs to boost consumption: IMF official

SINGAPORE - Chinese consumers have been held back for too long, and now must be put front and center in China's growth model, vsaid Anoop Singh, director of the International Monetary Fund's Asia and Pacific Department.
According to an article by Singh published on Thursday's Straits Times, Singapore's leading English newspaper, he said that China has weathered the economic crisis well and the world waits to see if last year's domestic demand growth can be sustained.
Singh said that one key idea to catalyze household consumption in China was to lighten the tax burden on labor.
"Taking into account the personal-income tax and various social contributions, taxation of labor income in China is too high," he said, "China could usefully explore shifting part of the burden from labor toward property, capital gains, and inheritance taxes."
He said China has made important improvements in social-reform program, but noted that "more can be done to speed up the existing reform package, find ways to develop full coverage for catastrophic health events, and develop government-backed financing of tertiary education."
He also stressed the need for improvements in the overall financial system, broadening the range of available savings instruments, and fostering a dynamic service economy.
"If consumption can be successfully and sustainably boosted, I believe that China's development will enter a new era, one in which economic growth continues at a rapid pace, generates higher employment, increases social welfare, places less demand on natural resources, and, ultimately, is of a much higher quality thereby underpinning more balanced global growth," he said.

Bathroom design

I have a 5' by 9' bathroom built in 1984 on the second floor of a two-story townhouse...standard tub/shower combo, high-flow toilet, and single vanity all in a row on one wall....it's all very white now, mostly, with two skylights which I like

I have a qualified person who will help me with the re-do...

I'd like to convert the tub to only a shower with a glass door opening inward, a shelf for the usuals, and have the shower head raised...

will get a new low-flow toilet....

want to change the vanity/sink to an undermount sink and a new slightly-raised counter with a new counter material....possible recessed med cabinet if studs allow....new mirror....

mostly need help with colors/styles/materials/"decor" choices....I prefer natural colors and want it to be very updated, but something that will not look dated in ten years...(will granite and stainless-steel kitchens look dated in ten years??!!).....don't want the latest and greatest bathroom fad (don't need those "rain-like" showerheads or "jetted" tubs), but want it functional and attractive in a classic, tasteful way....thinking of large tiles to the ceiling....

any websites that have tons of pictures and ideas for bathrooms??...a quick google search only returned narrow ads with only specific products....

Decration taste

Saint those are some cheap ugly junk. They are just Walmart quality corrugated cardboard boxes. They are only one step above the Chinese brand cabinets. Only thing they have over the Chinese brands is they are not infested with formaldehyde and sulfer.

We in the west as a whole do not like that Euro frameless style. Those in Europe hate our framed cabinets. There are good and bad arguments for both types of cabinetry. I love the business but if taste started to turn to that ugly frameless style I would leave the business in a heart beat.

How to decaorate the baby's room?

I would like to see ideas of the way you did your nurseries if you were really happy with how they turned out. Perhaps you have tips on what you wish you hadn't done? Or a FAVORITE book on nursery decorating you can recommend?

I am due for my first about Oct/Nov. I have a 13x13' room with 1 window and a paneled French door closet. Other than these 2 features the room is stark and ready for spark. =) I won't find out what the sex is because I am paying cash for my pregnancy and since it's not too important for me to know the sex I'm not going to opt for the ultrasound. I'd like to use that money on more baby things. I am thinking of doing the nursery in mauve and country blue but am not limited to these ideas. I thought I would love yellow checkered squares (1 foot x 1 foot) on the lower half of the room but the walls are lightly textured so I worry about how nice the lines could look. I may install a chair rail to do 2 different ideas in the room. My DH suggested I do a garden theme and paint flowers and picket fencing etc since I am okay at painting. But I am not sure I want to invest this kind of time in the nursery.

I plan to keep the linens simple and just get frilly white bedding as it can be bleached clean. The furniture may be a dark cherry or white wash I am not decided yet. The trim in the house is already white.

Brag a little bit of my bedroom

I gotta brag a little.

Our mid-70s ranch house has a master bedroom which was described as 12 x 16 when we bought the house. (Note to self - always take a tape measure with you when you are house-hunting.)

The bedroom is actually 11.5 x 15.5. Not that a half-foot makes THAT much difference, but it's kind of annoying to realize you got short-changed on the deal, especially when you have a king-sized bed to squeeze in.

Well for the first four years, we didn't try to do that. Oldest son took that bedroom, and we took what is/was a "game room" off the kitchen and made it into our bedroom. (It's 13 x 18 or so, so it was plenty big.)

DS is now in college and since this game room has its own entrance we decided to switch rooms and finally turn some attention to this "master bedroom."

DS had painted the walls gray, which was fine for him, but pretty boring and it clashed with my bed linens. So after we ripped up carpets and laid oak-look laminate, the next step was painting the walls - I went with Cafe au Lait - a taupe-y color.

I also took a hard look at our comforter set, and decided that 7 years was long enough; it was time for a new set. Talk about sticker shock - most places wanted $200 - $500 for a comforter. Yikes!

I then decided I could re-do the whole bedroom (including paint) for $500.

And I did.

Comforter set $90 (same one at JC Penneys was $185, and I'm not sure it included shams and skirt)
Bedside tables - $17 each (reg. $99 each; wayyyy marked down)
Wall lamps - $20 each
New TV stand - $80
Paint - $30
Rug - $80
Flowers - $30
Curtains - $36
Curtain Rod - $15
Pillows - $60
Total - $475

(Okay, so when I finally track down the desk I want - Target never has it in stock) - it'll cost me another $110.)

But I did it, and I think it turned out pretty good. Here are the after shots
